What’s the show about? It’s a powerful performance focused on the healing power of listening and respect in the Deaf community. We’re spotlighting accessible mental health care and breaking communication barriers. Through captivating dance and artistic stories, we show the need for culturally appropriate services for Deaf individuals.
ASL/English interpreters will be provided, live captions for Saturday’s Performance Only, Audio Descriptions for Saturday’s Performance Only, and wheelchair accessible venue. The venue is near Powell BART which gives easy access.

Antoine Hunter/Urban Jazz Dance Company (African, Indigenous, Deaf, Disabled, choreographer) created a One Hour and Ten Minutes raw compelling work on what it means to be “Houseless in the Bay.”
This dance show by Urban Jazz Dance Company highlights the healing power of listening and respect within the Deaf community, with a focus on accessible mental health care. Through captivating dance performances and personal artistic stories shared by guest artists, the show emphasizes the importance of removing communication barriers and providing culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health services for Deaf individuals.
Each performance and story serves as a call for equitable and respectful care that acknowledges the Deaf community’s experiences and needs.
All performances will have ASL/English interpretation. Saturday’s performance will also have Live Captions and Audio Description by Gabriele Christian of Gravity Access Services supported by a generous grant from the Ford Foundation.
