"Muffled Ovarian"
Not a dance show. Theater acting.
An evening with #Deaf #Theatre artists sharing an original series of scripts of Deaf #metoo, Deaf’s oppression and stories. Urban Jazz Dance Company houses a formal theatre program called DeVinci Deaf Loud Theatre (DDLT) that gives opportunities to Deaf actors opportunities to perform in the Bay Area. MUFFLED OVARIAN presents different Deaf women’s and Deaf women of color's experiences of discrimination and abuse. This will be an 1 hour and 10 minute production of a series of true stories and inspired by true stories that occurred to individual women and #transwomen while they were growing up including scenes of poems, monologues and dialogues.
Key highlights of the night will include Mr Hunter’s new theatre work and collaborations Michelle Banks, 2016 Poet of the year, Joy Elan, Cherie Epsy and ADA accessibility for all persons with disabilities or in wheelchairs. This is series 1 of 3 of the Deaf oppression theme followed by part 2 in the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival and part 3 occurring in November at CounterPulserPulse.
